I’m Amy

I love working in the food industry but it’s hard work, it’s nearly broken me on numerous occasions!

The crunch came 10 years ago, I physically and mentally burnt out due to stress, overwhelm and a whole host of other stuff. BUT, I turned myself around and returned to a flourishing career in Food, regained my confidence and had great success (with new found boundaries).

I want people to know that they can have a successful career in food without burning out. I want to be part of that support network and create a community that supports and not competes with one another.

My career in large corporate Food Manufacturers spans over 23 years and across multiple functions with a particular focus in New Product Development, Commercial and Marketing. I’ve combined my knowledge and leadership skills built over this time with EMCC accredited coaching skills to help individuals and teams have successful careers. This broad range of experience makes me perfectly placed as a food industry career expert to support you.

When I’m not working, as a real foodie, I’m likely to be found in the kitchen, getting messy with my young daughter, Holly.

I’m Lucy

I feel like I “suffered in silence” for years, I had a fantastic network that I only partially used, it took the failure of my business to really understand the power of my network and the joy I could have again by doing what I love and where my passion lies.

I want people to remember why they started working in the food industry and remind them to stay true to their passion as much as they can.  It’s VERY easy to get lost and I actually FORGOT what I loved for a number of years so I know first hand how it happens and how to regain it back, the podcast is a constant reminder to me and I want other people to learn from that

Now I’m 18 years into my career in the food industry, and I never want to leave, it’s my passion and I feel so very lucky to have spent my career here.  I started as a concept technologist in a large manufacturer then spent several years in retail as a Product Developer across Ready Meals, Desserts & Prepared Fruit.  After a work trip to India, I became very poorly and subsequently developed various food intolerances, turning my work life upside down.

After a year of struggling, I made the huge decision to leave product development and spent a year working as a recruitment consultant for the food industry.  This opened my eyes to the vastness of the industry and inspired me to start my own food brand, Pudology.

Pudology was the first chilled, free-from-dessert brand to market back in 2012, I ran this business and grew it organically with no external investment for the next 7 years.  We enjoyed massive growth but eventually, the big brands caught up with us and in 2019 I took the hard decision to liquidate the business as we just couldn’t compete and my passion had dwindled down to nothing.  I was lost, and passionless and it was painful.

Riding the wild rollercoaster of a start-up with some massive highs along the way had really taken a toll on me and I had really lost my way through the chaos. I really quite quickly regained my focus and remembered why I came into the industry and what I loved about it, and also remembered what I was really good at, this was only possible because of the people I know in the industry and the connections I have and discussions I had. As an experienced food industry career expert, I’m here to help others.

Almost immediately I started helping people which stimulated the launch of my consultancy business, and I now focus on what I’m good at and where my passion is so my clients get the best out of me.  The podcast with Amy helps me keep this focus and I hope it helps other people to remember why they do what they do!

I love spending time at home with my husband and two young children (Monty & Arabella), we’re very close to my family so regularly have grandparents staying (I have a very tolerant husband!) and we see alot of my sister and her family too.  Food is hugely important to us and I’m very lucky that my husband is a fantastic cook.  My kids love to get invovled in the kitchen, our favourite thing to make together at the moment are scotch pancakes on the aga, something I always used to do with my mum too.
